COMPANY OVERVIEW AND SCOPE
Mpilo Royal Farming was established in 2015 responding to Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (ZIM ASSET) by increasing food security and Gross Domestic Product (GDP), create jobs for youth and to provide workplace learning experience for agricultural students. Rural areas of Zimbabwe have no water and energy infrastructure to adapt to climate changes and mitigate its effects through stimulating rural economic activities. Therefore Mpilo Royal Farming is focusing on investing in developing rural infrastructure including drilling boreholes, setting up solar borehole pumps, solar surface pumps and as well as setting up smart agriculture and techno irrigation to monitor effective and efficient use of the solar energy and scarce water in Agriculture.
Mpilo Royal Farming is establishing itself, growing and expanding in each ward in rural areas as a springboard to rural development. The sensor system is integrated with a wireless network to continuously monitor the plant water stress status and control an automated variable-rate irrigation management system. It can also be used as a standalone unit to record plant water status continuously.
The aim of smart agriculture is to maximize water use efficiency, to maximize yield and to reduce the overall demand on water resources.
Mpilo Royal Farming uses innovative farming to respond to climate change these include solar powered automated irrigation system. The system comprises of boreholes installed with stainless steel solar powered submersible borehole water pump, solar powered surface pump fed drip irrigation and solar panels.
